Welcome to Guardianminifarm

For our 20th wedding anniversary, my husband told me to start looking for a German Shepherd, my dream dog. We had a Border Collie when we were first married. Many years later, my husband aquired a couple German Shorthairs for bird hunting. When my kids were in their teens, they pooled their money together and got a Great Pyrenees puppy. A couple years after that, we found a female Great Pyrenees so we had a matched pair. They did a great job protecting our blossoming chicken yard. Guardian Minifarm was then born. We planned on having a couple litters of Livestock Guardian pups to sell. A few years later, my husband began thinking about what our next dog would be. That’s when he told me I could have a GSD for my anniversary gift.

I began looking and after researching German Shepherds, I decided I wanted European bloodlines as opposed to the American bloodlines. We had met quite a few people over the years that had horror stories of having German Shepherds with major health problems. This usually came with expensive health costs at the vet and eventually led to the heartbreaking decision of putting down their beloved pet. We wanted to increase our chances of having a healthy dog as a opposed to the aforementioned problems. There is a more diverse gene pool in Europe and the standards are all about performance and not about attaining the “German Shepherd Look.” In my research, the general consensus was that because of these factors, there are potentially fewer genetic problems with European dogs.

My daughters did a great job searching the internet looking for families with pups with good bloodlines These families mentored us and offered their advice and experience to help us do the same. Now we have great dogs with excellent bloodlines. It is our hope to provide affordable, quality German Shepherd puppies for other families in our region.
